DeHaan is still not Eligible to play in the AHL. The 2011-2012 Season will be the first time he can play for Bridgeport. DeHaan will go back to the OHL if he doesn't make the Isles out of camp. If he is able to add 10 lbs of muscle(184-194 lbs) in the offseason, that will make the biggest difference as to whether he is at least given a 9 game tryout to make the Isles. Lets not forget that the Isles had both Trottier & Nystrom work w/ Calvin during 2009 Training Camp. They were telling him he needs to have more confidence, needs to change his mentality where he has the expectation to make the Islander team out of Camp. They told him how special it is to be an Islander & how highly the organization thought of him. I don't think Islander management is happy about DeHaan having to go back to the OHL which he already conquered. He could make the Islanders out of Camp & still play for Canada at the WJC.
Very happy about JT..little ticked off that we hear nothing about progress of all last yrs draft picks and young players..
Now I know this may get some ppl upset..but can we pleaseeeeeeeee stop talking about ..wow JT looks great in the jersey..hat etc..who cares??? about that and what is selling with his name on it!
I want to hear about HOCKEY..and the prospects we have and their development.. again sorry if I offended anyone but it gets reallllllllllllll tiring reading all that crap on a HOCKEY blog..
No worries Jason. I look forward to seeing more of your writing.
One funny thing about my family and yours, when I was younger your family was a customer of ours. We do home heating in the Huntington LI area. I remember being in your basement and my father telling me about your father, and seeing a bunch of sticks against the wall and asking my father if he would ask your dad for one. My father was too shy though so it never happened but I can still remember that day.
Huh, yeah, I guess this really proves how new I am to the blogging world. Did I just post absolutely nothing? That oughtta attract readers.
Well, hopefully I'll get this figured out. I'm just glad to find more sites that support the Isles. For those of you who have some interest in reading my writing, you can find some on my blog at www.jtbourne.wordpress.com, or check it my first blog for The Hockey News at www.thehockeynews.com.
As for this site, I apologize for my initial blank entry. I'll strive for better in my next. Hope everyone out there in Isles nation can keep their chins up, the single, modest positive I can say about the team this year is there's some good people, and some young talent. Hope springs eternal.
I think it depends on what happens in the standings, but for sure if there is a crew of p;layers that are going to be sold at the deadline, it would be worth bundling them with any non first round draft picks they can to seal the deal.
not at all
Add an above average veteran D man and I think you're on to something. Snowball's chance Kovalchuk signs here though.
pick gudbranson, then sign kovalchuk and get petrov signed.

Getting a big, physical D man is a top priority. They need to get more physical.
w/ Hamonic, DeHaan & Matt Donavan on their way we don't need another D-man...Draft Niederreiter!
if Gudbranson isnt there get NINO
