MacDonald Out 2-4 Weeks, Dubie Signed! DP Likey Done For Season

BDGallof's picture

Joey Mac is out 2-4 weeks.

Danis is in goal tonight. Mannino to back him up.

Per Logan in Newsday:

The Islanders have reached an agreement with former goaltender Wade Dubielewicz on a contract for the rest of the season for the pro-rated portion of a $500,000 annual salary, according to an NHL source.

CHICKENS COMING HOME TO ROOST: Isles Lose, DP To Be Shutdown? Wade On Call?

BDGallof's picture

Last night we had a live blog. I'd like to thank all those that participated. It is always nice to get a good response. Scott and I also like to thank the Isles Blog Bloxers for coming in, Eklund, Jon Jordan, our forum mod JProbber, and the many Isles and NYR fans who stopped by.

You can read through the fun below. Below that is my latest blog about Wade, DP and other doings.

NOTES:

Newsday reports that the Isles have been talking to Dubie. This means DP might be shutdown for the season. Announcement might be coming soon on DP, either way. Obviously the Isles do not have a warm and fuzzy on Yann Danis. Problem is that Dubie might have a couple other teams interested in his services. Maybe Garth throwing him under the bus over the summer talking about his conditionin

SIBLING RIVALRY

The season certainly started wildly for both the Rangers and Islanders. The Isles cleaned house with their coach. The Rangers moved on from the Jagr years and made some savvy trades. The Isles signed Doug Weight, who nobody seemed to think was any good anymore. The Rangers faithful thought Aaron Voros was actually good for a couple of weeks. The Isles thought DP had two

INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW: What's the deal with Brendan Witt?

BDGallof's picture

When Brendan Witt signed an extension over the summer, some, including myself, wondered if it was to lock a player who had originally come here to play under Ted Nolan up before they shed that same coach later on. Nolan was toast, and most knew it: Botta, Logan, and even myself were all writing about it.

Instead, it seems that Witt might have had issues between himself and Nolan and while ther

ROAD WEARY: Isles Limp Home After 5-2 Drubbing in Calgary

BDGallof's picture

Some might say that the Isles were weary even before they left for their western conference road swing. But that wouldn't be the truth. They had far more pep in their step and confidence when they left thanks to their breaking of the streak and some close games win and loss before they left. Their final coliseum game was a handily played game versus the Panthers.

On the road, despite not the sa

Now before I get to the awful officiating of last night's game, I'd like to address that excuse. Because any game that hinges on a refs call or a Toronto office for a video review, is a game that is not i

What I Did For Xmas Vacation

B.D. Gallof

Everyone tells you, usually with a sly laugh, or if they are male, with a slightly dazed grin, as if you have joined them at the front to some bloody battle, when you tell them you are expecting a first child. Life changes, or this is what they say, and then invariably it does, like the delayed snap of an Indiana Jones whip. Instead of going to th

HOW THE OTHER HALF LIVES: Why Are There Two Set Of Rules For Players?

BDGallof's picture

When Mike Sillinger made his return from surgery, he was tested on a Bridgeport stint. The Isles were careful, applying the use of a conditioning stint to do just that, condition a player to the rigors of the AHL as a prelude to a return to the faster, stronger NHL. Bridgeport was then used for Jeff Tambellini to just to gain confidence, under the same idea. It is a tool for two different elements

YANN DANIS RECALLED: DP Out vs Rangers

UPDATE: Per Greg Logan, Rick is OUT.

What I wrote about on Friday might be coming to pass . . .

DP's groin strain might be keeping him out in this key rivalry game versus the Rangers.

After taking the bulk of warmups, most felt DP was a lock to play today. However, Yann Danis has been emergency recalled from Bridgeport. No other announcement has

DP Starts & Strains Groin, Break Losing Skid, NYR Tonight, Trade Rumors

Some quick notes:

Trade rumors, as our Columbus blogger Eric Smith has already mentioned in an excellent blog, is starting to increase for Doug Weight.

Per Greg Logan of Newsday, back from his vacation:
"According to an NHL source, Isles general manager Garth Snow is seeking draft picks for center Doug Weight, who has attracted trade interest from several clubs."

This is hitting a lot

FRUSTRATED INTO FOOLISHNESS? DP Starts Tonight!

UPDATE: Confirmed. DP starts vs Toskala.

Have the Isles been cornered into something very questionable? Per Arthur Staple, who is filling in for a vacation Greg Logan, DP took a majority of shots in practice. Danis also saw action. Meanwhile, rumors have trickled to the webosphere that DP is indeed starting tonight.

We shall see. If so, either he is in phenomenal shape, ready to stand on hi

Dear Santa,

Ok, sure, I'm the guy who used to tell the little Christian kids that there was no Santa growing up. I also just told some irate shopper at BJ's Warehouse where he could park his car. So, ok, if I celebrated Xmas, I'd be with a heaping stocking of coal. But, hey, I blog for the NY Islanders, and that and plus being a fan has to account for

Word is that things are moving along, despite hot air from the league, the 'pass-the-buckisms' of Nassau Exec Tom Suozzi and Town of Hempstead's Kate Murray and a cacophony of silence from Charles Wang and Scott Reckson on the Lighthouse Project. Despite the fears by fans with the ignorant outside LI press holding onto the NHL's words thinking that the Isles were candidates to move or that the pro

The Ice of December's Winning Freeze Continues

The Isles vets seem to be frustrated, as the kids want more time. This is not upheaval, but merely what accompanies a rebuilt team that is still with much work to do. Isles Controversy: Witt Blames Gordon For Defensive Woes

Upon reading Greg Logan's piece, Brendan Witt commented to Logan about his -5 night versus the Caps. He cited that the forechecking system creates a lot of area for the Isles D to cover.

FAITH is the Truth of the Matter

(OPINION)

Woe to those who crab and complain about the current state of the NY Islanders. Another coin to cling in the pity cup of those who use it to declare every doom and gloom scenario in the past 15 years because they bemoan the losing streak and standings. You know the sort. They were the ones declaring the playoffs were possible a mere 9 games ago as Joey Mac was leading the Isles to

Recovering from a Bad Loss 101

BDGallof's picture

How does one take a bad loss? And I don't mean just any loss. But, a REALLY bad one. The kind that is like a karate kick to the gut after eating a bowl of chili and half an apple pie. The kind that leaves you just plain stumped. Numb. Daffy. Pissed. Furious. All of the above. Or none of the above, and just a bad case of gas.

There is no two ways about it. Last night was an awful loss. When I s
