Islanders Insight's picture

Scott Eansor was signed to a two-year two-way deal by the New York Islanders today. Why does this matter? It doesn’t? But the reaction does. Look, in the overall scheme of things does it matter that the New York Islanders gave Scott Eansor a two-year two-way deal today? No. In no way shape or form […]

New York Islanders Podcast: John Tavares Not To Blame

Islanders Insight's picture

In this week’s New York Islanders podcast, we go over a number of topics, none more important than addressing the doubters around John Tavares. The New York Islanders are in an epic slump right now. Sure, they won a game, so technically they’re no longer on a losing streak. But let’s be honest, one win […]

New York Islanders Daily: Last In Metropolitan Division

Islanders Insight's picture

With the New York Rangers win last night the New York Islanders are now in last place of the Metropolitan Division. Here’s why that’s unacceptable. The New York Islanders are the worst team in the Metropolitan Division. In a year where they have three players with over a point per game pace, the Islanders are […]

Suffolk

Suffolk County:  What About Us?

So last night I ventured out to a function much like ones I had visited years ago.  A public display of proposals for improvement of our region by prominent engineers, designers and investors.  Each group looking to come up with a plan that would enhance the already approved Ronkonkoma Hub development.  You see in Suffolk, we STILL have large parcels of undeveloped land.  Although when looking at the very impressive model of the final Ronkonkoma Hub plan with it's beautiful street arches, spired center piece, 14,500 residential units, restaurant and retail space, I was left shocked when I asked how many acres the magnificent project was occupying.  It's about five to six acres.  THAT'S IT.

New York Islanders’ Playoff Dreams Likely Dead, But Still a Reason to Play

Islanders Insight's picture

I’ve finally come to the point that I can admit it; the New York Islanders will, in all likelihood, not make the Stanley Cup Playoffs this season. But there’s still a lot of purpose in these last few weeks. As things currently stand, the New York Islanders (70 points) are eight points out of an […]

New York Islanders prospect Ilya Sorokin is expected to stay in the KHL through the remainder of his contract which ends in 2020. New York Islanders Garth Snow OK At NHL Draft

Islanders Insight's picture

This is going to be a surprise but New York Islanders GM Garth Snow isn’t the worst drafter in the NHL. He’s not good, or great. But he’s “aight”. With the New York Islanders all but mathematically eliminated from the playoffs for the second year in a row, it’s hard to back GM Garth Snow. He […]

Islanders Insight's picture

The New York Islanders will enter this off-season asking themselves should they acquire a proven NHL defenseman? Let’s examine their blue line options this summer. The New York Islanders have struggled defensively this season, especially after losing Calvin de Haan in mid-December. Also, losing Johnny Boychuk for the month of January did not help matters. […]

The New York Islanders are searching for a starter for the 2018-19 NHL season. They might already have it with Christopher Gibson. New York Islanders Chris Gibson Shines vs. Calgary Flames (Highlights)

Islanders Insight's picture

In the midst of an eight-game losing streak, the New York Islanders needed to win against the Calgary Flames. If only to save face and have some sort of pride as they close out 2017-18. The New York Islanders only have a handful of games to go in the 2017-18 season. A season that can be […]

New York Islanders: Doug Weight Probably Won’t Keep His Job

Islanders Insight's picture

Doug Weight has seemingly lost control of his team. The New York Islanders, even when they were on the cusp of breaking back into the playoff conversation, look flat and, at times, uninspired. That falls directly on the head coach. I’m a Doug Weight fan. When he took over the New York Islanders last season […]

New York Islanders: 10 Step Plan To Fix The Franchise

Islanders Insight's picture

After a disappointing 2017-2018 campaign, the New York Islanders need a facelift. I put on my Owner and General Manager hat and fix the Islanders.
